Hi all! I am an associate professor and Department chair in criminal justice. I have been a working professional in the criminal justice field since 1975. I have also taught in college as an adjunct instructor since a 1977. I decided to go full time as a college professor in 2005, thirty years after I started. I have seen a lot of changes in thirty years, but two of the biggest include the advent of computer technology in all phases of our lives. I have been fascinated with technology and I have worked very hard to stay "cutting edge." The second thing that has really struck home with me is the advent of the large scale terrorism incidents. First, the Oklhoma City bombing really struck home with me because my aunt and uncle lived nearby. Then, when 9-11. 2001 arose, I became very alarmed as so many Americans were. I think it is critically important that we understand these threats and prepare ourselves to deal with them. Toward that end I have tried to combine my interest in computers and my concern with terrorism and other natural disasters using the webquest. I think this sight can be very valuable and I intend to update this continually to make even more valuable as a teaching tool. Good luck! Email me with questions pdawalt@ivytech.edu
