This Webquest is designed to take 1 full week to complete.

Standards

The following Clark County U.S. History standards are covered:

7.1 Students will explore the lure of the West and the reality of life on the frontier as it relates to communication, farming, water issues, mining, and ranching by utilizing one of the big 11 social studies skills.
7.2 Students will describe the role of farming, railroads, and mining in the settlement of the West by utilizing one of the big 11 social studies skills.
7.3 Students will identify the importance of immigrant and native groups to mining, ranching, railroads, and commerce in Nevada and the United States including the goals and accomplishments of labor unions in Nevada by utilizing one of the big 11 social studies skills.
7.4 Students will examine decisions made in the settlement of the West by utilizing one of the big 11 social studies skills.
