Pain Management in the Post-op Patient

Thank you for considering my Webquest on pain
management in the post-op patient. While this lesson concentrates on post-op,
it can be applied to any patient in pain in any setting. This Webquest promotes
teamwork, collaboration among peers, and critical thinking and analyzing the
content required. The entire lesson should take 1 week to complete.

Standards

According to the Joint Commission, the standards require organizations to:
• Recognize the right of patients, residents or clients to appropriate assessment and management of pain
• Screen patients, residents or clients for pain during their initial assessment and, when clinically required, during ongoing, periodic re-assessments
• Educate patients, residents or clients suffering from pain, and their families, about pain management
