Complex Characters in Literature

Students will learn about the attributes and motivations of protagonists, antagonists, and supporting characters in works of literature.  Students will understand what makes them act the way they do throughout the story to advance the plot.  As a result, students will also thoughtfully ponder their own motivations and offer responses to character interactions on issues such as nature versus nurture, empathy, and justice.  Students will make use of reading, writing, creativity, and the critical-thinking process.
