Ellipse and Elliptical shapes

this webquest is about the ellipse. This topic takes nearly 40 minutes in classroom. Although ellipse is a high level topic in MoNe, it is a further mathematics level in IB curriculum.

Standards

• The student collect real life data from a video.
• Students define an ellipse.
• Students represent an ellipse as an equation.
• Students describe the elements of an ellipse such as focus points of ellipse, major axis/transverse diameter of an ellipse, minor axis/conjugate diameter.
• Students draw an ellipse on the coordinate system.
