Dolphins

Dolphins is one part of a two part project using webquests to show students the similarities and differences between dolphins and people. This lesson is geared towards the kindergarten 1st grade group after similarities and differences have been discussed and established. This lesson follows the Ohio State Department of Education in Language Arts, Science, and Research.

 

Concepts of print, Comprehension Strategies and Self-Monitoring Strategies Standard: Visualize the information in texts, and demonstrate this by drawing pictures, discussing images in texts or dictating simple descriptions.

Strategies Standard: Compare information in texts using prior knowledge and experience.

Writing Applications Standard: Name or label objects or places.

Research Standard: Ask questions about a topic or an area of interest.

Research Standard: Use books or observations to gather information, with teacher assistance, to explain a topic or area of study.

Life Sciences Standard: Describe how plants/ animals usually resemble their parents.

I hope that this will further students knowledge of community, differences in not only other dolphins but in people as well and foster a more open acceptance in their minds for the future.
