This lesson is mainly intended for students who are native
to Southern Arizona, home of the Sonoran Desert.  Though the tasks may seem simple to adults,
it important that students are given time to taken in the information and
process what they are learning.  In
first grade children range from 5 to 7, and have different abilities,
strengths, and weakness. It is for this reason that I recommend allowing students to have two to three days to take in all the content.

Students should be given time to watch the short videos
during class, for some students may not have access to a computer at home or
the internet. I encourage showing at least two videos for whole group, and
take time to discuss and answer questions for inquisitive and curious
students. The other videos can be shown during center time, as a station.

 My hope is that
students will better appreciate and love the Sonoran Desert, the plants and
animals that live within its boundaries, and be more aware of their
surroundings.
