LA 12.1.3 Word Analysis: Students will use phonetic analysis to read and write grade-level text.

LA 12.1.4.a Students will adjust reading strategies to persevere through text of increasing length and/or complexity.

Task 1:

Go to the first link, watch the video, and then do problems 1, 2, and 3.

1. Solve the equation -14x=56.

2. Come up with your own equation that results in x being a fraction.

3. When could you use this kind of equation to help solve a real world problem that you might face in the future.

Task 2:

Go to the second link, read through the site and watch the video, and then do problems 1, 2, and 3.

1. Graph the inequality y>x+3.

2. Graph the inequalities y>x+3 and 2y+4x≤12 and shade the region that satisfies both inequalities.

3. Make 3 inequalities that create a triangle for the shaded region.

Task 3:

Go to the third link, read through the website except for elimination with 3 equations and 3 variables, then answer the problems

1. Solve the system of equations 5x+2y=23 and -3x+6y=12.

2. Create an equation such that x=10 and y=1.

3. Create a real world problem and solve for the solution.

Task 4:

Go to the fourth link, read through the page, and complete the following problems.

1. Completely factor 20 into it's prime factorization.

2. Factor the expression 9x⁵-12x⁴+3x².

3. How might being able to factor an expression help you in the future, either in later math classes or in life?

Task 5:

Go to the fifth link, read through the article, and answer the following questions.

1. Solve the equation 5x²+2x-3=10.

2. Who first created the quadratic formula?

3. Graph two quadratic equations such that they will never touch.
