Dropping the Atomic Bombs: Necessity or Cold War Policy

You will be taking on the roll of one of President Truman's advisers in the decision making process concerning the use of the atomic bomb(s). After gaining knowledge about the options available, you will choose the stance in which you feel is the correct path. There will then be a class discussion/debate, and finally a vote on our final decision. Will we rewrite history and go down a different path? Or will we follow in the footsteps of our past leaders?
