Across the Ocean, Sweet Melody from the Virgin Islands

The task you have today is to learn the maypole dance.

The Maypole Dance is often done as part of a cultural activity in the Virgin islands. It is followed by our cultural quadrille dance. One event that showcase this dance is at the opening ceremony of the Agricultural Fair. During the performance of this dance, our local band Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights plays the quelbe music to accompany the dancers.

After learning the steps to this dance, assign a color ribbon to each student. This way the students will get a better understanding of the dance they are about to perform.
