Task

At the heart of patient family-centered care is the belief that health care staff and the family are partners, working together to best meet the needs of the child. Excellence in health care happens when we work together and honor the expertise each of us brings to every health encounter.  Patient family-centered care is a continual effort to be responsive to the needs and choices of each family.

Being a teenager in todays fast paced and high-tech social world is challenging, navigating who they are, how they fit in, and how important their popularity is.  Factoring in a teenager receiving chemotherapy or other therapies to treat their cancer, can be taxing on the delivery of care and meeting the teenagers emotional needs with regards to anxiety, body image changes, pain, and feelings of isolation.  Assisting nursing students towards both developing patient-and family-centered care with goals and the constant changes in emotional needs with the teenager, a Pinterest board was created.  Delivering Patient-and Family-Centered Care to Teenage Cancer Patients at Home takes a deeper look into the driving need for further theory development through assessment collection, intervention delivery, and conclusions with purposeful implementations with meeting emotional needs goals.
