Domestic Violence
Task
Students who engage in this Web Quest on Domestic Violence will use the web sites provided in the quest to complete three tasks:
A. After reviewing the Webquest sites, students will be expected to complete a Homework Assignment consisting of 20 content questions. The answers to the questions should be typed and in complete sentences. The assignment should be typed in a Word document with the title of the Web Quest Assignment, your name and the date at the top of the page. Students will submit a paper copy of their finished work in class for grading. (20 grade points)
B. Students will complete a 10 item Quiz on the information presented in the Web Quest. (10 grade points) Their completed quiz should be submitted in class also.
C. Finally, students will be expected to select one of the following communication projects to design and present for future use. Students may use the information supplied in thisWebquest and any other relevant data they need to provide information to the recipients of their handout, questionnaire, or presentation. A paper version of the completed project or information of how to access it (in the case of a created video or power point) must be submitted in class for gradging. ( 70 grade points)
1. Construct an Informational Handout which could be distributed or displayed in public areas (like a library, beauty parlor, or grocery store) that targets women who may be at risk or already victims of domestic abuse. It should include information which will assist them in breaking free of the abuse cycle.
2. Construct an Informational Handout on Domestic Abuse that could be distributed to teachers in elementary schools . It should include: signs of abuse in children, information about
domestic abuse, steps to take to aid the child and his family, local numbers to call for help in this regard, and additional websites that provide information on the topic.
3. Construct a student questionnaire that could be used by school counselors or distributed in classrooms to identify children who may be at-risk due to domestic violence
4. Create YouTube video or Power Point on the Topic: Domestic Violence, Its Causes, Effects , Treatment, and Prevention
