Task
This webquest will guide students through a Democratic Six day Social
Studies lesson and the New World.
Day One Lesson: Introduction / Groups formed / Election Day / Vocab Word
Day Two Lesson: World History - Encounters and Exchange, the 13 original colonies. Students will identify the 13 original colonies; who originally settled and what year was the colony established. Students will also explain how a life of an indentured servant might look like during the time period. Students will use the links below to assist them in this quest. Students will then use the last link and complete the quiz. Students will turn in their quiz scores at the end of day 2.

Day Three: Geography - Students will be able conduct research for two themes of their choosing from the five listed below. Groups will provide important information such as bodies of water, deserts, climate in a presentation to the class that shows how these two themes impacted the daily lives of the early colonist and how they may affect their daily lives. Students will gain a more in depth understanding of how geography was related to the establishment of the early settlements and how geography relates to social studies and their local community today. Students will watch the video and explore the power point slide to assist them in this quest.

With the two themes, groups will provide important information such as bodies of water, deserts, climate, mountain ranges with their presentation to the class that shows how these two themes impacted the daily lives of the early colonist and how they may affect their daily lives. Remember, the presentation will be student choice (power point slide, poster board, lecture) due on day six. Students will gain a more in depth understanding of how geography was related early colonist and how geography relates to social studies and their local community today. Students will watch the video and explore the power point slide to assist them in this quest.

Day Four: American History - On day three Students will gain understanding of why historical events and people are important to them. Students will identify and list 4 technological items used by Lewis and Clark on their expedition. Students will imagine they are part of Lewis and Clarks expedition and replace those items with of 4 related technological advanced items that were further developed to what they might use today. Students will be able to list and explain how their choices effect travel today and how the expedition would have been easier on Lewis and Clark if they had these items. Each group will brief to the class their chosen items in their presentation on the final day. Students will use the link below to assist them in this quest.
Students are encouraged to bring in pictures or items they have chosen to add with their presentation.
Day Five: Civics / Government - Early American Government. Groups will research the Constitution of the United States and understand the importance of the first 10 Amendments and how those Amendments shaped our government then and now. Students will use the links below to assist them in this quest.
