Figuring Discounts, Sale Prices, and Best Incentive

1.  You will take the pretest (#1)  over percents and incentives on thatquiz.org.  You will use the link through your teacher's webpage and click on your classes thatquiz.org.  Click here to proceed to your teacher's webpage.  

2.  Watch the video on youtube that shows you how to convert fractions to decimals.  Click here to see the video.

3.  Play the matching game on quia to practice changing fractions to decimals.  Show your work on paper or white board.  When all your matches are made, raise your hand and show your teacher.  Click here to play the game.  5 pts.  

4.  Watch the video on youtube to practice multiplying decimals.  Click here to watch the video. 

5.  Practice decimal multiplication by doing 25 problems on Mr. Martini's decimal and percentages webpage.  Click here to proceed to the practice page.  When you get to the page click on the checkmark and choose 25 problems by using the + button.  You are finished when you show your teacher a score of 80% or more.   5 pts.

6.  Complete the online practice to continue your decimal multiplication practice.  Click here to practice decimal multiplication online.  Scroll to multiplying decimals by decimals.  Choose 1 pt 2 digit x 1 pt. 1 digit and enter 10 problems.  Work out the problems on paper, put in your answers.  When all 10 are completed, click on submit.  When you get 8 correct of the 10, show your teacher your score.  5 pts.

7.  Watch the youtube video that shows you how to figure discounts or percents off and sale prices.  Click here to watch the video.

8.  Watch this youtube video that also shows you how to figure percent off discounts and sale prices.  Click here to go see the video.

9.  Practice figuring percent of numbers and dollar amounts and sale prices while playing the quia game.  Click here to go play the game.  You can play the game with a partner.  You will need to have 16 correct on the jeopardy board to pass.   5 pts.

10.  Complete the worksheet (#10)  on thatquiz.org to decide which of the discounts offered is the better deal.  You can prove what a great shopper you have become and figure out the savings on each offer and choose the better offer.  Click here to go to your teacher's webpage and then click on your class link to complete this assignment.   Will be graded separately.

11.  Now take the posttest (#11) on thatquiz.org to show your teacher how much you learned as you completed the activities in the webquest.  Click here to go to Mrs. Lemke's webpage and click on your class link to take the posttest.    Will be a separate grade in the gradebook

12.  Your final assignment is to design a 5 problem (this is a minimum-you can do more) worksheet or quiz to give to a partner.  Your worksheet will need to have a problem similar to each one you watched on a video (1 problem changing a fraction to a percent, 1 problem on decimal multiplication, 1 problem on figuring a discount, 1 problem on figuring sale price, and 1 problem figuring which discount is the better incentive).  You can use openoffice to create the worksheet or you can make it a powerpoint or smartboard presentation that they can complete on a laptop.  Submit this assignment to Mrs. Lemke by putting it in her public folder on the server.   5 pts.
