American History: A Historical Field Trip
Process
Each student will individually decide on six sites from the websites on the list to include in their journal. Follow the steps identified in Task 1:
Task 1
- Research the websites on the list.
- Select six sites and find out the following information:
Process
- Date the site was built;
- Purpose of the building;
- Was it dedicated to anyone special;
- How important was it to the formation of Washington, D.C.;
- Write in a complete sentence, a question you would like to ask about each chosen
site upon your visit.
- Include a picture of the site.
- Each site will have its own page in the journal.
Task 2
- Download from the internet a map of Washigton, D.C.
Process
- Create a legend identifying your chosen sites.
Task 3
- Choose one site and write two paragraphs
(consisting of a minimum of five sentences for each paragraph) on why the site was considered your favorite and what you found most interesting about that particular site. Include a picture of the site with your paragraphs.
Task 4
- Neatly prepare all of your collected information into a journal.
MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES TO CREATE YOUR JOURNAL
One 3 ring, 1-1/2 inch binder, construction paper, clear sheet protectors, camera, journal paper and any other material that will enhance your journal. Please add a personal touch to your binder. You can be as creative or imaginative as you would like when decorating your binder.
