Colorado Ecosystems

Process to Complete Your Research

Objective 1: Proposal

After meeting with our representative, your team will draft a half page proposal that states a minimum of five questions your group believes a student should be able to answer (in depth) after watching your presentation.  These questions must directly relate to the importance of studying this particular ecosystem and it's impact on Colorado.  The proposal is part of your preliminary work; you will revisit your questions during the conclusion portion of the project.  Turn in your proposal to our representative by the deadline.

Objective 2: Scientist Specifics

1. ALL the profile sheets that are needed to complete during research are located at the bottom of the page!! Use the blue link BELOW to link to the required sites for your research. See your specific scientist requirements below.

2. Each scientist should first create an "Ecosystem File" after logging in under their student number, or they may create this file on their thumb drive.  Check with our representative first. This file will be where you should save research images, or information that you may want to use in your presentation. Save the website where you copied the image from, too.

3. Look below for the specific explanation of what each scientist is responsible for completing with their best effort.  Save any files you need to your thumb drive or your student number. If you do this incorrectly, you will lose all of your work. Ask team members to assist you.

Environmentalist

Complete the Ecosystem Profile. (Find this in the resources below.)

Complete 2  Environmental Profiles. (Find this in the resources below)

You will be responsible for designing the portion of the project that describes the general ecosystem characteristics.  *****Use your team members' ecosystem profiles as well as your own to accomplish this.

Objective 3: The team will work together to create your ecosystem presentation

Within your team, use your research to create your museum presentation. Try to reuse any items that you can in your presentation. (paper, cardboard, etc.)

Some Presentation Ideas:

  • Newscast (team members playing each part)
  • Skit
  • PowerPoint
  • Talk Show
  • Movie Documentary
  • Parade of Posters - team members should discuss each one

Your organization, creativity, and attention to detail will be greatly appreciated by the museum's board as well as visiting students.

Each team member needs to include their research information to help create a strong product that the Sparta Museum of Natural History would be proud to use.

Use your Proposal to help you remember what it is that your team wants to accomplish.  Also, see the Evaluation Rubric that can be found in Resources at the bottom of this page. Good luck! We look forward to enjoying your presentation during Eco Week!
