Part 1 - Understand Landforms

 Your Tourism Team will have 3 - 4 members.  The Governor will give each Tourism Team a region of Pennsylvania to explore.  The first task of your Tourism Team will be to understand and learn about different landforms and bodies of water in Pennsylvania.  Please print out your Physical Characteristics sheet and define or describe the different landforms or bodies of water using the web sites below.

Part 2 - Gather Information

Each Tourism Team member must complete one task for their brochure to present to the Govenor.  You may decide which task you wish to do.  As a group prepare the landforms, bodies of water, and cities.  Then one member find a state park, one member determine the climate and weather for your region, and one member find an attraction to visit in your area.  If one member finishes earlier than the others, or you have a fourth member, they should gather some fun facts about Pennsylvania for the brochure.


Team - Group Work
Please print or view the Map of Regions to help you determine the landforms in your region of Pennsylvania.  You will gather all the necessary information to be able to draw a map of your region on your brochure identifying the landforms in your region, major cities, highways and counties.  Think about how cities, highways, counties are developed around landforms.

Team member 1
Locate a state park in your region.  Please gather as much information as you feel necessary to tell about the park, landforms near the park, and recreation available in the park for your brochure.  For example is it by a river, lake or mountain for skiing.

Team member 2
Find out information about the climate and weather of your region to put in your brochure.  Think about how the climate affects the recreation available.  Do you think the landforms affect the weather?  Prepare a chart or graph to be included in your brochure.

You may explore a museum or other attraction in your region that you think we would like to visit.  Explain if there is a specific landform related to your attraction.  If so, how are they related?

Part 3 - Prepare Brochure 

Your Tourism Team will get together to design a brochure about your region of Pennsylvania.  Your team will present your brochure to the other Tourism Teams and the Govenor.  Be sure to be as creative and colorful as you wish.  You may print pictures from the internet to attach to your brochure.  On your brochure please include landforms, cities, location of state park, and the location of a place to visit.  If you have fun facts please design these into your brochure.
