The Industrial Revolution

Process

ir4.jpg

Step 1: Begin by writing your name on your worksheet and reading over the names of the innovators you will be researching today.

Step 2: Visit the web sites below, which describe the American innovators of the Industrial Revolution.   You may go in any order you like and visit any of the websites,  as long as you fill in all of the information on your worksheets. Help your group members understand all of the material. You are a team!

Step 3: Once you have finished your research, rank each of the innovators in terms of who you think had the greatest impact on American society.

Step 4: As a group, discuss the various innovators. Come to a consensus on who your group would like to reccommend for the American Industrial Revolution Achievement Award.

Step 5: Report your decision to your boss to see if anyone else has chosen that innovator yet. The committee needs to see a variety of presentations. Therefore, no two groups will be making a tri-fold on the same innovator.

Step 6: Within your group, you will now plan your presentation to the committee. Each member of the group will be responsible for a different part of the presentation: a letter recommending the innovator for the award, a model and explanation of the innovator's invention, and background information on the innovator. Choose which job each member should do.

Step 7: Refer to the the Resources page for instructions on how to go about each job. Make sure you refer to the Rubrics to see how each product will be assessed.

Step 8: Present your recommendation to the committee.
