Welcome, Second Graders!  Today you will journey back into the past, into a different time in history.. Imagine that you and a friend have a time machine.

You both are going to be detectives and find out information about some people that helped Georgia in some way.  You will look at fun facts, videos and a little about their history. Find a friend and let's get started.

First Task: You and your friend will come up with a name for your detective team, such as The Great Detectives of Second Grade.

Second Task: You and your friend will look at one website from the seven historical people from the list below. Talk between yourselves and decide who you both would like to learn more about. Who do you think would be cool to learn more about?

Third Task: You both will find out more about your person. Find out as much as you can. Where were they born? Where did they grow up? What did they do to help Georgia? or What made them important? What great thing did they do? Do they have any interesting facts about them that you think is neat? If so, what were they? Write down everything you learn.

Fourth Task: Your detective team will design a poster that tells about your historical person. Your detective team will use that information to answer the following questions on your poster:

What does he or she look like? (Print a picture of your person.)
Where was the person born?
Where he or she lived in Georgia?
What did he or she do to help Georgia?
What is one interesting fact about your person? (You can do more then one fact.)
Include some visuals (pictures).

Remember you both will work on this as a team. You both must participate to get solve the mystery.

Let's get started!!!
