The Story of Mathematics

Process

Day 1:

You will be randomly assigned a partner to work with for the duration of this 5 day project. After you are broken up into groups, one person will come up to the front of the room and draw a time period out of a hat. This is the time period that you are required to research for your project. We will spend the remainder of today in the library researching your respective time period. You will be required to cite at least two different print sources in your presentation.

Day 2:

We will be visiting the computer lab for the next three days. Today you will want to focus on researching your time period through various websites. Reminder: you will need to cite at least two online sources in your presentation. I have found a few online sources for you to look at. You are not required to use these. Feel free to explore other options as well.

Remember, you do not need to use these websites. They are simply here to get you started.

Day 3 & 4:

These are the fun days!! These two days will be used to create your presentation. Hopefully you have had ample time to collect enough information to make an excellent presentation. This is where you are given options. You may use any form of presentation tool online that you can find. The only one I would like you to stay away from is PowerPoint. There are many other options that you can explore. Here are a few that I have found that you may like.

https://prezi.com/                      Visually attractive form of presentation

https://www.nearpod.com/         Presentation tool that has lots of cool options such as polls, surveys, interviews.

These are just a few options to use for your presentation. Feel free to upload lots of pictures and maybe a video or two to keep your presentation engaging!

Day 5:

Today we will be exploring the entire history of mathematics by each group sharing their projects with the class, starting from the earliest time period. You will go up to the front of the room and pull up your presentation on the Smart-board to show off all of the hard work you have exerted this past week!
