Process

Let's get started!

Groups: I will randomly split you all into groups of four. Each person will be responsible for one topic. You will be assigned your topic by picking a number 1-4 out of a jar and the topic that goes along with that number below will be your responsibility.

Resources: You will need the following programs/items:
  • Powerpoint or Prezi
  • Notebook paper/index cards
  • Pen/pencil
Process: You are going to create a Powerpoint or Prezi that demonstrates what you've learned during your Webquest back in time.
  1. Your Powerpoint or Prezi should be at least 6 slides long. You should have an introduction slide titled "The Great Gatsby and the 1920's" and each group member's name.
  2. Next, you should have at least one slide for each topic. You may have more, but I would like you to keep the slides short and only use key phrases. This means you should be able to elaborate on your key phrases without having a cluttered slide. You may use notebook paper or index cards in order to do so. Each member should research their topic and write down what they learn on a sheet of paper or type it out before you all collaborate to put the information you've learned into your presentation. Do not expect to sit back and let your group members do all the work! You are responsible for your topic and it will affect your grade only!
  3. Finally, you should have a conclusion slide. Here you should each write one thing you've learned about the 1920's or The Great Gatsby through your Webquest.
  4. Each slide should include one picture that is related to one of your questions or topic.
Topics:
  •  The Prohibition - Answer the following questions about the prohibition in the 1920's using this link - javascript:nicTemp(); as a reference:
What was the prohibition and on what date did it begin?
What was the primary goal of the prohibition?
What was a speakeasy and why was it called that?

What are the real names of the fictional areas known as "East Egg" and "West Egg" in New York?
Which of the two areas is wealthier during this time period?

Using this link - javascript:nicTemp(); determine how long it would take to travel from our location to Long Island, New York and briefly discuss why you think      Fitzgerald chose it for the setting of his novel. Hint: The first link may just provide you with some information that can help in your reasoning!

  • The Jazz Age - Answer the following questions about the Jazz Age using this link - javascript:nicTemp(); as a reference:

Now, I'd like you to listen to a few of the songs from the website and pick one that you really enjoyed! Use this link - javascript:nicTemp(); to find a video with the audio of that    song and add it to your slide. Note: You are exempt from adding a picture to your slide due to your video!
