Part 1

1. Watch this Flocabulary video about The Three Branches of Government.

2. Watch this video again and complete the Activity sheet your teacher will give you.
3. Paste the activity sheet in your journal.
4. Watch this video about Branches of Government and Our Nation

Read the Introduction section. Then click the star to learn about the Constitution. Add notes about the Constitution to your journal. Click "Learn More" to read more.

6. Click on the Three Branches of Government star to learn. Click "Learn More" to read more.
7. Click on Checks and Balances star on the left. Each branch of government can be controlled. Add notes to your journal.
8. Ask your teacher for one of the two tests. Complete the test and give it to your teacher.
Optional - Complete the matching activity (see your teacher).

Part 2
1. The new government was created with three branches which would each balance the others. Watch this video to learn about an important job of the three branches. 3. Get 3-Branches of the government tree graphic organizer from your teacher. Write down the names of our elected officials who serve in  all three branches. Include the Georgia representatives for the legislative branch.  Use the links at the bottom of this page to find their names. Paste the organizer in your journal.

Part 3
There are people from our community who serve on each government branch. Now that you have learned about the powers of our government, pretend you are a representative. Which branch would you like to serve on--Executive, Legislative, or Judicial? Create a poster that illustrates the responsibility of your branch. Your teacher will give you construction paper, markers and directions. Please examine the rubric in this WebQuest before starting. (Note- The rubric will be included later. Please click on the Evaluation Tab for a summary.)
