Process

Task 1 – go to Google Maps or a similar mapping tool and find the route. Copy a screen shot of the map into PowerPoint and highlight the route you will be taking.  Also highlight the location of the cities you will be visiting. Then use Satellite View and review geography along the route (e.g.mountains, rivers, plains, seas, etc) and write a short summary of the vistas you will see as you drive.  Include a few pictures.

Task 2 – Visit www.salzburg.info/en and learn more about the city.  Research the name “Salzburg” and write a short description about the name.  Visit the Salzburg Dom (a church where Mozart played the organ); write a short review of your visit, include a few pictures.  List two other places in Salzburg you would like to visit and include a single sentence on why you would like to visit them.

Task 3 – Visit www.venice-tourism.com/en/visit-venice.html and learn more about the city of Venice.  Research and take tour of Piazza San Marcos (Saint Mark’s Plaza).  Write a short paragraph on the history of the piazza and major items you saw there.  Include pictures.  Take a gondola ride on the Grand Canal; using Google Maps provide a list of some of the sites you saw on your ride.

Task 4 – Visit www.tourism.verona.it/en and read about Verona.  Research and visit the Forum.  Write a paragraph on the history of this Forum.  What unique purpose is the Forum still used for today?  Verona is a prime grape growing and wine producing area of Italy. It sits in the middle of the Valpolicella region.  Do a Google search and find a winery you would like to visit.  List the name of the winery in the review of Verona.

Task 5 – Visit www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innsbruck and study about Innsbruck, Austria.  Research the Graβmayr Bell Foundry (in German β is a double “s”, therefore it is the Grassmayr Bell Foundry).  Write a paragraph about the foundry and information about where some of their bells are hung.  Include pictures.  List two other places in Innsbruck you would like to visit with one sentence on why you would like to visit it.

Extra credit question: as you have been driving through Europe have you been driving on the right hand side of the road (as we do in America) or on the left hand side of the road?
