Process

In this assignment students will explore other cultures and contrast them against their own cultures. Students will first examine what defines a  culture and ask questions about what kinds of things would be interesting to learn about another culture. They will have the opportunity to meet new students their age from two other countries by using video over internet technology in the form of Skype. They will be given the opportunity to ask questions of students and answer the questions the other students have of them. Finally students will debate and have a dialog about how the diversity of cultures might contribute to our own lives and societies.

                                    Phase I:

                 Instructional Strategy: Day 1-2

o  You will be partnered with other students to have 2 teams

o  Each team will be given the first day to conduct research and decide which culture/country you want to conduct your projects on and create 10 questions that you would like to research answers for (countries will need to be those that have Skype accessibility-which you can confirm with me)

o  You will look over the Skype tab and decide on the role you want to have during the Skyping sessions

o  You will share your questions with the other team and receive feedback on if any changes need to be made

o  You will return to your original teams and finalize the specific 10 questions and conduct research on finding the answer so  You will create a list of your initial assumptions, ideas, and opinions about the specific culture and update that information in the classroom blog
