ELIZABETH'S VISIT

Process

BEFORE THE VISIT

1. This is Elizabeth. Would you like to know something about her? Here you'll find a letter she wrote to Argentine students:

2. How many sections does the letter have? What do you think you're going to read in each of them?

3. Read the text quickly and answer these questions: (NOTE: Answer questions orally unless you're asked to write the answers)

What is her full name? How old is she? Where is she from?

4. Now we'll concentrate on the section "Where I live" Read it and answer these questions:

4.1 Where is London? What country is it in? What continent is it in? What is the UK?

4.2 Do you remember your work about London 2012 Olympic Games? Go to the Resource section at the bottom of the page and click on "continents".

4.3. Can you answer the questions in 2.1 now? If you can't, look at the map in:

4.4 What is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" then? Look at the following map:

5. Let's go to the section "Where and what I study". Don't worry if you don't understand all the words. Try to answer the following questions:

Can she speak Spanish?

Is she interested in Latin American culture?

6. Now read the section "What I like"

6.1. Answer: Does she like singing and dancing? Does she like food? Does she like art?

6.2. She mentions some muscic genres like "hip hop" and " gospel". Do you know them?

6.3. Does she like rugby? Is it an Olympic sport?

6.4. If you want to remember your work on the Olympic mascots too, go to the Resource section and click on "Olympic mascots"

7. The last section in the letter is called "What I'm looking forward to". Read it and answer:

What sports does she want to practise in Argentina?

Does she want to dance tango and salsa?

8. Finally, write the answers to all the italicized questions and submit it as an assignment in our virtual classroom, Edmodo. You'll find the questionnaire in the Resource section. Click on "Questions about the text"

9. Prepare questions to ask Elizabeth in class. Think about something you want to tell her about you, our school, our country, etc

DURING THE VISIT

1. Now you're ready for Elizabeth's visit! Click on "door" in the Resourse section to see what to do

2. Talk to her in class. Ask questions (don't be shy!) and listen to her.

3. With your netbooks, take photos of the objects she's brought.

4. Take a photo of Elizabeth too (your teacher will also film the conversations to work on them later)

5. Play a game with her

AFTER THE VISIT

2. First watch the parts of the video and submit the assignment in Edmodo (You'll also find the activity at the bottom of this page)
3. Now write something about the visit as suggested in the interactive wall.
