Little Class on the Prairie

 1.  You will take turns reading "Winter Days in the Big Woods" aloud.  While reading and listening, write on your Five Senses Worksheet the names of things that Laura and her family could hear, taste, smell, touch, or see.  You will read your list to the class after the story has been read.

2.  You will discuss who the main character in the story is.

3.  You will identify the other characters in the story and their relation to Laura by using the Character Worksheet below.

4.  You will use the Chore List Worksheet  to complete a chore List for Laura and one for yourself.

5.  You will visit the Little House on the Prairie site listed below to hear Pa's fiddle, play checkers, and do a word search.

6.  You will write a letter to Laura Ingalls as if she could travel through time, inviting her to your house in the neighboring town.  Tell her what you will do, what you will have to eat, and what your family is like.  You will use the Letter to Laura by Shopping Sidekick">Worksheet.
