How to evaluate a webpage

 Lets get started.

FIRST:
Open up your checklist!  There is a link at the bottom of this page for website evaluation.  click it, it will open up open office.  SAVE this document in your share drive on the computer!  This is the checklist you will be using to evaluate websites.  You need to get 8 questions, and use them (copy/paste) for each website you evaluate!

SECOND:
Following are links to 2 websites that give you ideas on how to evaluate a website.  Read thru these to get ideas on how to evaluate a website.  Using these 2 websites (or others) make up a checklist of things to check on a website that will help you evaluate the worth of the website.

THIRD:
Using the two sites above, make a checklist on what things to check to validate a website.  You must have at least 8 questions or ways to evaluate a website.  A question should help you figure out if it's a good, website.  (ie:  who is the author).  You will use this list to evaluate 3 of the following websites AND one of your own (you choose a website), so have the questions 4 times in your document.  You must have a line above each set of questions saying what website you are evaluating.  Your name must be at the top of the document.

HINTS!
Use the wayback machine (at the bottom) to tell you how old a website is
Use the whois website to tell you who owns the website (registrant)
FAQ = frequently asked questions - lots of good information there.

Again, you will use the checklist for EACH website.
Using your checklist, evaluate  of the following websites plus one of your own.  Answer all the questions on your checklist.  When done you should have 1 document with 4 sections, one for each website. 

FOURTH:
SAVE THIS DOCUMENT!!

You will have to tell the class using your questions why you think ONE of the websites you evaluated is true or bogus, based on your checklist, you pick!
