Culture Lesson

Students will watch the video below and discuss what they learned about the cultures in this video.

Then, think about the following:

What are some cultures around the world which you think are interesting, but you know little about?

1.  Learners will shout out answers to the above questions, and the teacher will take notes on the whiteboard.

2.  The class should attempt to come up with at least 10 different cultures.

3.  Next, learners will divide into teams of 3 and "Google" one of the cultures on the board.

4.  Learners will place their favorite websites onto a class "Delicious" bookmarking site, so that others know which sites they have visisted.

5.  Students will summarize their findings on a group powerpoint which they will present to the class.  Questions they should attemtp to answer include:

-Where is this culture abundant?

-What is the history of this culture?

-How do the people eat, dress, and work?

-Do you think the people of this culture are happy?

-Would you like to work or live among this culture?  Why or why not?

6.  For homework, groups will create a blog describing the culture that they chose.  This will be posted into the class "Blogger" site.

7.  In the next two classes, students will create a video introducing this culture using pictures whey found on the Internet.  These will be posted on YouTube.
