Investigating Diseases

Process

20120513092213Wepuz.jpg

1.  You will be able to choose a disease from the list.

2.  You will be making a power point presentation to the away team (our class).  Its very important to know if your home computer has the power point program.  If you don't, you will have to do your work at school during the allotted class time, seminar or after school.  Make sure you have many ways to save your presentation!  A memory stick is a great idea!  If you are working at school, make sure you save a copy to your school account.  How about your Facebook page?  Save in different places and often!

3.  Your first slide should include the common and scientific name of the disease.

4. You will then relate the history /discovery and causes of your assigned disease.  Even if the disease was not discovered by a particular person (or even more than one person) you must mention this.

5. You must identify the symptoms, specifically the organ(s) and body system(s) affected, of the assigned disease.

6. You must relate the transmission (infectious or noninfectious) and prevention of the assigned disease.

7.  You must have a Resources slide.  Resources are places where you got information and images.  Each image should have a URL, in case we want to find it again.  Remember, using someone elses words as your own is plagiarism.  Cutting and pasting sentences or paragraphs onto your presentation is plagiarism.

8.  The sites below are very general because many different diseases were assigned.  These sites will take you to other sites.  If you are going to use information or an image, copy the site (URL) and put it with the information or image, this way you will be able to easily cite your resources

 Wiki-anything" is an unacceptable resource.

Resources are listed below.

Remember, our schools site has a library link that also gives search links.
