Week one- divide into small groups of 4 students for small group readings. Monday thru Wednesday read in small groups. Thursday and Friday the class will read together and the remainder of the book will be read at home to be completed for class on Monday morning of the second week.

Week two- Monday- Identify main characters and their importance to the story. Diagram on smartboard and include major acts of importance for each player and how those actions affected the other characters and the story as a whole. Tuesday- Determine how the class would change these character's importance and how they might change the actions of each character and the affects those changes will have. Wednesday and Thursday create story board poster by having students divide back up into original small groups, then assigning equal number of character's to each group have students begin to brain storm new ideas. The story board will be a class project that each small group will contribute art work to complete. Have each group use old magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes etc. to create a picture storyboard of each new character portrayal for their assigned characters. On Friday have the groups work together to combine their artwork into one cohesive storyboard idea. Ideas should work together to make a finished clear storyboard that illustrates the students understanding of main characters and how the main characters drive the meaning of the story.

You will need:  Magazines, newspapers, cereal boxes, glue, markers, colored pencils, enough poster boards for each group to have one poster per group, push pins to assemble posters in order on wall to produce storyline. (Be creative with poster designs!)
