Effective Reading Lesson Planning & Assessment for ESE Students
Team 1: (1) Choose a group leader. (2) Your group leader will read The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. (3) If you feel that Goldilocks should go to jail for breaking and entering go to the North side of the room. If you feel that Goldilocks was an innocent little girl who was just hungry go to the South side of the room. (4) Each group will consider each question below in relation to the EQ and then improve the given plan according to research based practices. Once each group has finished, you will share and compare using inside/ outside circles. Following are the questions that you will consider and below are the resources for this task: What research based practices drive curriculum? How would you generate a lesson plan utilizing research based practices? How would you improve the lesson using research based practices while focusing on the needs of all students? What changes would you make to the plan to accommodate students with special needs? What modifications would you make in the lesson in order to meet the needs of students who are working below grade level? Have the needs of all students been met? Does the plan take into account cultural barriers? What are the learning objectives for the lesson and how do they align with the grade-level standards and access points? Are all five components of reading evident? What will your administrators see if conducting a CWT during this lesson?
