The Odyssey and the Hero's Journey

A hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability who is admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.  These qualities are created through what is known as the hero's journey.  This journey involves many stages, rites of passage, and trials which the hero must overcome in order to develop into a brave, noble, and wise individual.  Luke Skywalker is one such hero.  Luke sets out on a journey to become a Jedi Knight.  Little does he know what he will have to go through to become a noble hero.

 

This webquest will introduce you to the steps a hero must go through to attain his status.  While studying these steps, you will also study Homer's The Odyssey.
