Where did the Amish culture originate and diffuse?
Introduction
The Amish originated in Europe, like many other American subcultures. However, unlike those other people, the Amish maintained a traditional, agricultural and pre-Industrial culture. Even today, they ride horse and buggy, farm the land, and live off of agriculture, craftsmanship, and other trades. They have experienced two distinct diffusion phases, one from Europe to America and the other from their first settlements in Pennsylvania beyond. Furthermore, their origin is foreign and, with this, they carry European and Swiss old culture.
