Exploring Edgar Allan Poe

Considered by some to be one of the greatest writers in American history, Edgar Allan Poe is best known for his short stories and poetry, which were often mysterious and macabre.  Without Poe, we would not have writers like Stephen King and Neil Gaiman.  He also helped popularize detective fiction and science fiction. Poe showed that you could write a scary story without it being gory.
