The United States have been around for over 200 years! In the beginning they started out as 13 colonies and developed into 50 states! There are 48 contiguous states. Contiguous states are ones that are touching or share a border. Alaska and Hawaii are the two states that are not contiguous. The 48 continental states are broken down into 5 regions. The regions range from including 4 states to including 13 states. In this lesson you will learn which states belong in which region.
