Analyse Learners

General Characteristics

The class is a mixture of boys and girls which are between the ages of 16-18 from a middle to high income background. This class consist of fifteen (21) students; ten (10) boys and five(5) boys. In this class majority of the students are auditory and visual learners from that of a middle class and socio economic background. Most students are from surrounding and neighbouring communities which is not far away from the schools location, based on the behaviour of student’s amongst peers it is evident that they are from homes with some level of social stability.However the students lack interest and the ability to express themselves freely due to the traditional way of teaching which they found not to be interactive and interesting, these students hardly participate in activities given. The atmosphere is conducive to learning and teaching

State Objectives:

1.     Define the term Batch Costing with 100% accuracy

2.     Distinguish between job costing and batch costing using examples with 95% accuracy

3.     Calculate the cost of a batch of items

4.     Calculate the unit cost given the number of items in a batch.

Selecting Media, Method and Materials

The white broad will be utilized by showing students the examples of calculating batch costing

Zunal will be used to show students definition of batch costing and job costing

Worksheet will be provided for the students to assess their knowledge of batch costing

Utilize Media, Method and Materials

Zunal will be utilized during the teaching of the lesson by showing students definition of batch and job costing.The teacher will demonstrate an example on the white broad after which the students will be given an example to demonstrate on their own.

Require Learner Participation

Students will be allowed to work in pairs of two. Each pair will be given a worksheet on batch costing. Each pair will be allowed approximately ten minutes to view the worksheet. After the ten minutes one member from each pair will come to the broad and present their information. Each pair is expected to complete the worksheet given. After each partner is done the teacher will go through the worksheet and compare the students’ responses on the broad.
