Introduction
After reading The Outsiders, this WebQuest will allow you to deepen your understanding of figurative language and apply it in your own writing. S.E. Hinton, the author of The Outsiders, uses figurative language to add meaning to and enhance our understanding of the characters. She was only sixteen when she wrote this novel and it is now one of the most widely read books in American schools. Who knows--you may find your inner author and become a figurative language master!
