Introduction

You are a team of four Social Studies specialists exploring the impact of computers on Jamaican life. Specifically you want to investigate how the use of computers and Information Technology (IT) can improve the lives of our citizens in Jamaica.
Your team's research will advise the Prime and Minister and Government on how Computer and Information Technology can truly transform our lives and our country ?

After an unfortunate 12th place finish in last year’s hardware competition, the UWI Mona Robotics team worked assiduously to redeem themselves and placed 3rd in this year’s IEEE 2018 SouthEastCon Hardware (Robotics) Competition which was held in St. Petersburg, FL, USA on April 18-22, 2018. The competition featured 60 universities from the IEEE Southeast region of the USA, and Jamaica. Each competing team had to build a fully autonomous robot (an intelligent machine which when powered on is capable of executing its tasks without any human control) that performed a series of tasks that tested the students’ abilities with respect to electronics designs, mechanics, programming, power, and ingenuity.

This year’s team comprised of Yekini Wallen-Bryan (Coach & Student Advisor), Kriston Kong (IEEE student chair), Stefan Holness (Co-Hardware captain), Brandon Campbell (Co-Hardware captain), Shane Smith, Jourdan Dunkley and Kaycilee Wright.

The Mona School of Engineering congratulates all of the team members and those who helped behind the scenes. Thank you for all the hard work and persistence which paved the way for the eventual success of the team. We look forward to our students reaching even higher heights.
