The First Amendment: Freedom of Religion
Introduction
Do public schools allow students to pray? If you are the valedictorian, can you thank God in your graduation speech? Can your football team pray together before a game? Does the Federal Government give funding to religious schools? Can you be excused from class to attend religious instruction?
The First Amendment contains two elements regarding religion and government. These elements are commonly referred to as the establishment clause and the free exercise clause. This webquest will examine aspects of the First Amendment prohibitions and protections regarding Freedom of Religion.
