Introduction

Sea mammals are mammals that live in the sea or ocean, where the water is salty. Sea mammals are the same with the land mammals. They are warm blooded animals that give birth to their young live and feed their babies milk when they are little. Sea mammals include whales, dolphins, walruses, manatees, dugongs, polar bears, and seals. Sea mammals breathe air, while most of them extract oxygen from water. They have lungs like land mammals. Sea mammals have thick, oily, layer of blubber beneath their skin. Blubber keeps them warm because blubber used to insulate their bodies and prevent heat loss. But Sea otters and polar bears are exceptions, relying more on fur and behavior to stave off hypothermia.
