For a more detailed look at how you will be graded for this assignment, see the rubric in the section below.

For a more general description of what is required, look no further!

At the end of this WebQuest, you will have produced three different items which I will assign a numerical score. You will then take this numerical score and ascribe some sort of value, probably a reflection of how well you mastered the material and how you are progressing in the course thus far. Eventually, these numerical scores will be entered into an electronic grade book and given to the school and school district. They will then place their own value upon these numerical scores and will ascribe their own evaluation of your mastery of the material and progress thus far in the course. In the end, however, only your numerical score on the AP Exam and the resulting ascribed value will matter to anyone with the power to make decisions about your academic future. Enjoy!

First, you will present to me a completed map of Europe. You will have followed all of the instructions I provided earlier and it will be very pretty at the very least. I am hoping that it will also be very informative. I will then assign you the aforementioned numerical score based on the rubric below.

Secondly, you will present to me a completed biography of one of Europe's countries. This will also be given one of the numerical scores we discussed based on the rubric below. Each of you was assigned a different country, which leads us into the third part of our evaluation.

Thirdly, you will present to myself and your peers a presentation utilizing PowerPoint, Keystone or Prezi on your assigned country. We will do this very early in the school year, so do so try to have it done before you show up for the year. This presentation will be given a numerical value based on the grading rubric posted below.

Rubric

# Map Biography Presentation Effort Score
Detail Every country must be labeled with its name, largest three cities, bodies of water (if any), mountain ranges (if any) or any applicable geographical features Beyond what one can see on the map, this biography details population, government, GDP and applicable geographical information This presentation must be detailed enough to impart an understanding of the country upon your classmates. If they were to be tested, they would be able to pass with flying colors! If your project looks well-researched and thorough (not to mention creative!), then you are doing it right! 25
Accuracy & Relevance All countries, cities and geographical features should be labeled correctly and accurately. The information you provide in your biography must be correct as well as relevant. Your classmates must learn the correct facts and gain an applicable knowledge of your country. You have shown a discerning eye in providing your classmates with information they can USE and is correct. 25
Professionalism Your map should clearly provide its information and be easy to read. You must refrain from casting aspersions or passing judgment on your country. Just the facts, people. If this were a college classroom, you would be expected to act in a professional manner. Decorum and good attitude are mandatory. If you appear slovenly and unprepared, your classmates will not trust your information and your teacher will not grade you kindly. 25
Creativity Maps should be clean, yet colorful and engaging. Attempt to present what would normally be considered dry, unappealing information in a fun and engaging manner. Try to captivate your audience! Flashy (yet relevant) graphics and a command over your presentation platform are essential. Could one of your peers done your presentation for you with no more preparation than a quick internet search? I hope not! 25
