The main objectives of this WebQuest is to equip students with the knowledge about credit card fraud and tools to prevent and detect such fraud. The teacher should follow below steps to provide guidance to students for accomplishing this WebQuest:

  1. Students should first go to the Introduction tab that stated the purpose of this WebQuest and what they can learn from it.

  2. Students should then go to the Process tab where step-by-step descriptions of how they should accomplish the task are listed.

  3. After students know the steps of how to complete this WebQuest, instruct students to go to step 3- Hangman tab to play this simple and fun game in order to get themselves familiar with some of the terminologies. Definitions for each of the terms can be found in the "WebQuest Answer" document.

  4. Instruct students to now go to the Task tab to answer 5 questions about credit card fraud by following the information and links provided to help students gain in-depth knowledge about credit card fraud. You may advise students to take answer these questions seriously and thoroughly because their understanding and knowledge of the topic will be evaluated in a later section.

  5. Upon completion of above step, form students into groups (depending on the number of students in class, 3 - 4 students per group is suggested to allow students to actively participate and discuss the answer for each question).

  6. Once all students are formed into groups, instruct students to go to Quiz tab to understand the evaluation criteria that they will answer 10 multiple-choices questions with 10 points given for each correct answer. Below are the two suggested ways that you may choose to carry out this task, depending on the availability of time:

Method 1) You may limit a specific amount of time (like 3-5 minutes) for each group to submit their answer for the first question. After all groups submitted their answers, you may ask what each group answered and their reason(s) for their selected choice. After all groups expressed their answers, you may tell students the answer for the first question. Then, proceed to the next one in the same manner until all five questions are answered.

Method 2) You may tell students that they have X amount of time (like 15-25 minutes) to submit their answers for ALL TEN questions. Once the time is up and all groups submitted their answers, you may ask what each group answered for the first question and their reason(s) for each of their answers.

  7. Ask students to write a reflection summary on their experience of using this WebQuest that includes whether they enjoyed accomplishing the tasks in this WebQuest, why or why not; if they find the WebQuest informative; if there are additional topics that should be included in the WebQuest? Will they suggest others to visit this WebQuest? This reflection paper may worth 100 points.

  8. Proceed to the Evaluation tab to show students the criteria for their papers.

  9. Proceed to the Conclusion tab to see the summary of this WebQuest project.

  10. The whole WebQuest should be worth 200 points (100 points from quiz and 100 points on reflection paper).
