Measures of Central Tendency

This WebQuest requires you to calculate the mean, find the median, find the mode and calculate the range in an interactive way. A deck of cards will be used for you to explore each of the measures of central tendency. This activity will be used throughout the entire lesson and questions will be asked to get your understanding. You are required to make a small video of the procedures you are going to take during this activity and post it on our facebook page (stat-iks). After completing this activity, you will be asked to click on the link provided and complete the mean, median, mode and range worksheet. In order to receive your answers for the worksheet, you will create an answer sheet in google docs and email it to the following email address: [email protected].

At the end of the exploring activity, you should be able to:

● Correctly find the modal card number of a set of 9 playing cards with one modal value

● Correctly identify the modal card number of a set of 10 playing cards with two modal values

● Clearly, state the steps taken to identify the mode from the given class activity.

● Clearly, state steps taken to calculate the mean card number from the given class activity.

● Clearly, state steps taken to calculate the median card number from the given class activity when the cards are odd.

● Clearly, state steps taken to calculate the median card number from the given class activity when the cards are even.

● Clearly, state steps taken to calculate the range from the given class activity with the cards.
