How to Navigate the Atlantic Ocean

To assist Laura Dekker in her journey across the Atlantic Ocean, you need to learn how to keep her on course.  While working through this WebQuest you will learn about navigation, what it means and how it works.  You will learn how factors like speed, direction, wind, and currents affect ocean travel.

Your task is to create a map showing the best route for Laura Dekker to follow across the Atlantic Ocean, from Amsterdam to the Panama Canal.  Using research gained during your investigation, you will be asked to present and provide justification for your proposed route. In the course of your presentation a hypothetical situation affecting Ms. Dekker's trip will be proposed.  As a team you will use the kowledge gained in this WebQuest to demonstrate how Ms. Dekker can stay on course.
