Your tasks as a Computer Laboratory Custodian and as a Hardware Engineer are as follows:

A.) Computer Laboratory Custodian

Computer Laboratory Custodians are responsible for providing assistance to users inside the laboratory.  You are the first contact person for users seeking technical help with computer related issues, such as EAD and MY BRCC, and wireless log-on issues.  You should be able to perform basic computer troubleshooting, including course specific software and printer maintenance.  You are responsible for maintaining a clean quiet work area for users. Moreover, your essential tasks are:
  • To provide user support and customer service.
  • To be present, visible, and available to all users requiring technical assistance.
  • To answer questions from users with technical issues.
  • To research for solutions to questions that you are unfamiliar with. You should have many databases.
  • To be acquainted with the available help resources and stay updated with changes and problems in modern technology.
  • To attend all Computer Laboratory Custodian training sessions for improvement and better efficiency.

Given these situations what are you to do?


  • You are tasked to reset passwords of student accounts (given that the user presented his company ID).
  • You are tasked to troubleshoot the deposit station if any errors occur in Printing Account Management.
  • You are tasked to install, secure and hook up computers at predefined locations.



B.) Hardware Engineer

Computer Hardware Engineers are responsible for the hardware configuration of a computer. You are to update systems by improving the components, layout and design of a computer for increased efficiency of the computer. You are expected to increase the speed and function of the computer. You also must design the most compact and cost-effective model possible. Moreover your essential tasks are:
  • To use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • To determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • To identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • To watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • To conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • To select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.


Given these situations what are you to do?

  • You are tasked to design a fast video graphics card to enhance the look of video games.
  • You are tasked to develop portable storage devices to quickly transfer large amounts of data from one computer to another.
  • You are tasked to develop a color printer that creates photograph-quality prints.
