Symbiosis--What's It About?

Students:

Your task will be to examine the symbiotic relationships that exist in our world:  Parasitism, Commensalism, and Mutualism.  You will also examine the predator/prey relationship.  By the end of the activity, you should be able to identify each of these relationships and explain how organisms relate to one another in the living world.

Teachers:

This activity satisfies the following Virginia Standards of Learning: 

" BIO.9   The student will investigate and understand dynamic equilibria within populations, communities, and ecosystems. Key concepts include

a)      interactions within and among populations including carrying capacities, limiting factors, and growth curves"(VDOE, 2003).
