Not Without My Daughter: Experiencing the Lives of Betty and Matob Mahmoody

How Do I Do This?

To create these letters and journal/diary entries you will need to compile the following materials:

- Paper (Can find in the supply cabinet in the green drawer)
- Pencil
- Your copy of "Not Without My Daughter" (Hope you have been keeping up with your tabbing! It will be easy to find instances of child abuse, spouse abuse, etc. if you have been marking it as you were reading!)
- Crayons/colored pencils (Can also find in the supply cabinet if needed)
- Creative minds!

Things that you might want to include in your Betty letters:
- Mahmoody's actions towards you
- Home life with Mahmoody's family
- The food the family serves
- Experiences in the market/streets
- Attitudes from other Iranian women
- Iranian customs and laws
USE TEXT SUPPORT! Use the scenarios that you read about and write how you would feel if you were Betty!

Things that you might want to include in your Matob journal/diary entries:
- What you are eating
- What you are feeling
- What you are wearing/ what others are wearing
- The language you are hearing
- Things your dad and mom talk about/ how they are treating each other
REMEMBER: You are only five years old at the time! You may know some words and can use them in your entries, but your journal/diary will mostly include pictures. THINK! If you were Matob, what would you be thinking? How would you feel? What would you see?
