Step 1: Read descriptions of the three different simulations, including the noted warnings or guides.  Remember, the simulations may be disturbing and hard to watch; if they are too difficult to view, please cease watching immediately.  Refrain from viewing the questions that will need to be answered at the end of the process, Step 5, until all of the simulations have been viewed; doing so will elicit raw personal insight that will provide for enhanced answers.

Step 2: View the Schizophrenia simulation by clicking on the link located on the Process page.  The simulation will load immediately upon accessing the link.  The simulation cannot be paused or stopped, so be prepared to watch the simulation in full (approximately 8 minutes in length); if discomfort is experienced the only way to cease watching is to exit the website.  While viewing the simulation, note your feelings, thoughts, emotions, questions, concerns, and other experiences.  Write down a couple notes that will assist with discussing your experiences when answering the questions in Step 5.

Step 3: View the Color Blind simulation by clicking on the link located on the Process page.  This simulation is not a video.  The simulation allows you to choose an image, view it through normal vision where all cones are functioning, and then alter the picture to allow for the different deficiencies experienced by those who are colorblind.  While viewing the varieties of vision, note your feelings, thoughts, emotions, questions, concerns, and other experiences.  Write down a couple notes that will assist with discussing your experiences when answering the questions in Step 5.

Step 4: View the Aspergers/Sensory Overload simulation by clicking on the link located on the Process page.  The simulation is a video that is 2 minutes and 19 seconds in length.   While viewing the simulation, note your feelings, thoughts, emotions, questions, concerns, and other experiences.  Write down a couple notes that will assist with discussing your experiences when answering the questions in Step 5.

Step 5: Return to the notes taken while viewing the simulations.  Pick ONE of the simulations to discuss; write a minimum of 250 words for the simulation in response to the following: (a) how did the simulation make you feel? What emotions were experienced? What questions or concerns did the experience elicit? (b) Reflect on experiences where you have encountered an individual with a mental illness, developmental disorder, and/or impairment either in the workplace, school, home, or community.  Did these simulations assist with understanding those individuals better? Did the simulations allow you to apply information from your studies of psychology so an improved understanding of their issues can be achieved? Did this assignment provide you with valuable insight for your future career? Explain.

Step 6: Review your responses for grammar, spelling, and sentence structure; this is important to your grade.  Place your name on the assignment and submit it in the respective drop box.
