The Process and Resources
In this WebQuest you will be working together in a group of three. Each group will research, rewrite in today's language, summarize and analyze one amendment in the Bill of Rights. As a member of the group, you will explore the Bill of Rights on the internet. You will follow the web pages on this webquest to help guide your research, and meet the goals of the project.

MODELING: The teacher will walk you through the first amendment, and use each of the books to model connections, and research strategies.

GUIDED PRACTICE - The second will be as a class with the teacher.

COLLABORATION- The remaining 8 will be split for a group project

You'll begin with everyone in your group getting some background information before dividing into roles where your team will write a script to fit the job description of Host, News Commentator 1 and News Commentator 2.

2. Read through the files linked to your group. If you print out the files, underline the passages that you feel are the most important. If you look at the files on the computer, copy sections you feel are important by dragging the mouse across the passage and copying / pasting it into a word processor or other writing software. ( MAKE SURE TO DOCUMENT WHERE YOU GOT THE QUOTES AND PUT THEM IN QUOTATION MARKS.)

Instructions to help with citation. We have covered this a lot in class already, but if you get lost check this site first, ask your group members for help, and if you are all still unsure ask me for assistance. Take 3 - Debating, Discussing, and Reaching Consensus

SUMMING IT ALL UP
You have all learned about a different part of the bill of rights. Now group members come back to the larger WebQuest team with expertise gained by searching from one perspective, and answering questions for the different roles. You must all now answer the Task / Questions as a group.

Each of you will bring a certain viewpoint to the answer: some of you will agree and others disagree. Use information, pictures, movies, facts, opinions, etc. from the Web pages you explored to convince your teammates that your viewpoint is important and should be part of your team's answer to the task questions

Your WebQuest team should use your notes to give a good presentation of your amendment, issue, and book connection from the three different roles. You may want to develop a script, and some questions you want to ask the class /guests for the news show that will be filmed during class.
Then develop an answer for the Task / Questions that everyone on the team can live with, and this will be your closing statement on your news video segment (Take 5) and your thesis for your blog (Take 4).

Take 4 - Real World Feedback
BLOGGER
You and your teammates have learned a lot by dividing up into different roles. Now's the time to put your learning into a blog you'll send out for real world feedback. Together you will write a blog that contains opinions, information, and perspectives that you've gained. Here's the process:

1. Begin your blog by going to www.blogspot.com and creating a free account.

1. Begin with a statement of who you are and why you are writing your blog.

 2. Give background information that shows you understand the topic.- This would include your research, the questions and answers to the questions for your individual job, and the team consensus.

3. STATE THE TASK / QUESTION AND YOUR GROUP'S ANSWER. (This is your thesis of your blog)

4.  Each person in your group should write a paragraph that gives two good reasons supporting the group's opinion. Make sure to be specific in both the information (like where you got it from on the Web) and the reasoning (why the information proves your group's point).

5.Each person must also include one passage from their book and how the book connects to their amendment.

6. Have each person on the team proofread the message. Use correct letter format and make sure you have correctly addressed the email message.

7.Publish your message to obtain feedback!  Send an email to family, friends, and facebook contacts to go to your blog. Then have them respond to your blog, and get a conversation going on your topic.

Take 5 VIDEO STREAMING

VIDEOS
The last part of your project will be to have your amendment discussion filmed in class. You can make references to your learning, point out evidence from research, ask the audience questions, and discuss the blog responses you have received.

This is the fun part, and will be uploaded on the class wiki for digital streaming, and can be uploaded to YouTube for family, friends, and facebook friends to view (with a signed permission slip from parents of all students in the group).
