2.       You will cut the story events out and glue them on construction paper in sequential order.

Math Activity (Click on the County Fair Concessions link and print to complete this activity.)

1.       You work at the County Fair Concessions and you have to calculate how much your customers total purchase(s) cost.

2.       You also have to calculate how much change you owe them.

Label A Spider and Discover How Spiders Spin A Web (Click on the External Spider Anatomy link and print to complete this activity.)
You will be assigned to a team of 3 students to complete this task.  However, each of you will be responsible for turning in your own work.

1.       You will use the definitions of the spiders external body parts to label the spiders external anatomy.

2.       You will catch a web spinning spider with a large jar and a piece of cardboard. Once caught, you will bring it to the room.

3.       You will fill a baking dish about half way with water.

4.       You will take two chunks of plasticene/clay and put at either end of the baking tray.

5.       Put a stick in each of the two clay chunks. Be sure that the stick is over the water, and not leaning towards the outer edge of the pan.

6.       Carefully let the spider onto one of the sticks. Since spiders do not like water, the spider will spin a web between the two sticks!

7.       You will need to write your prediction of what type of web it will spin, and record your observations in your journal.

8.       After completing the experiment, answer the following questions in your journal.

What would happen if we put two spiders in the same area?

What would happen if we did not use water?

Social Studies Activity (Click on the Venn Diagram link and print to complete this activity.)

1.       You will use details from Charlottes Web to complete a Venn diagram comparing farms to cities.

2.       In the outer circles, write things about them that are different.

3.       In the center circle, write things that are alike.

4.       Summarize the differences and similarities on the lines provided at the bottom of the page.
